‘I liked all of it! Lots of information put in an easy to understand way and lots of good ideas and games to take back. It was good to have time to play the games too.

25 November 2021  –  9.30 am –  3.00 pm

The new Ofsted framework from September 2019 had Early Reading as main inspection activity and this remains a major focus. This course will enable practitioners and phase leaders to be fully conversant with the latest requirements for the teaching and assessing of systematic, synthetic phonics.

Outcomes: Participants will be introduced to the principles and practice of phonics teaching, enabling them to plan, teach and assess progress through accredited phonics schemes.

Target audience: Teachers and Teaching Assistants with little or no experience or formal training in phonics and phase leaders who would like an update.

Course content: Subject knowledge for phonics; the four-part lesson; resources and creative ideas for teaching. Course members will be given access to a range of free downloadable resources.

This is an online course delivered via Zoom. The presentation will be available to download at least 48 hours before the day if anyone would like to print this to take notes. There will also be downloadable resources that needed to fully participate in sessions.
