The new Ofsted framework from September 2019 has Early Reading as main inspection activity. This course will  deliver practical ideas to develop children’s  engagement with, and understanding of stories, non-fiction, poems and rhymes.

Outcomes: Participants will be introduced to practical approaches to enable them to plan and deliver ideas to enable children’s active involvement in, and  understanding and enjoying of, a wide range of stories, poems, rhymes and non-fiction.

Target audience: Reception and Year 1 Teachers; Teaching Assistants; English Subject Leaders with little or no experience or formal training in early Reading and phase leaders who would like an update.

Course content: Teaching sequences and immersive ideas to develop understanding and enjoyment of fiction, non-fiction and poetry to complement and apply the phonics teaching that will be occurring in parallel. Delegates will be introduced to a wide range of quality texts and will be able to take away a featured text.

Cost: £170 + VAT including refreshments and lunch

This is module two of a possible two day course which also includes Early Reading module 1: an introduction Letters and Sounds 

£300 + VAT for both modules.

Schools can send different members of staff to each module and still qualify for the reduced rate.
