NQTs – From Prediction to Publishing:planning a teaching sequence in KS1 and Ks2

KS1 and KS 2 combined Dates  – 14 October 2016 and 26 May 2017 with one day to be decided in between.

See below for the timing and venue for day one and day three.

9.00 am – 3.30 pm – The Innovation Centre – The Digital Exchange – Bradford

Outcomes: Participants will be able to plan, teach and assess an effective ‘reading to writing’ teaching sequence using high quality texts.

Target audience: Newly Qualified Teachers

Colleagues attending the course will receive a free copy of a quality children’s book and a free set of reading comprehension fans as well as having access to downloadable resources.

Course content:

Day 1: An introduction to a five phase teaching sequence using planning cards and  with quality texts at the heart. I will lead the training, supported by a Leader of Excellent Practice (LEP) or Specialist Leader in Education (SLE). It will cover engaging shared reading activities and will show how texts can be used to support the teaching of text structure; punctuation and grammar in context and the planning, drafting, editing and publishing of writing.

Reading Fans and Planning Cards

Day 2: Delegates will receive support in their own school from an LEP or LLE who will support them in the planning and delivery of a unit of work.

Day 3: I will deliver further input, supported by  an LEP/LLE, and there will be a sharing and celebration of the work of delegates.
