Retrieve and record information / identify key details from fiction and non-fiction.
Resources: An appropriate text for the age and experience of the children.
Method: Ask children to read all, or part, of the text independently and then place the text face down so they cannot see it.
They then take it in turns to tell each other some thing from the text with no hesitation. This does not have to be in chronological order. Invent your own scoring system. If they cannot recall anything, then encourage them to have a look at the text again before re-commencing the game.
This activity encourages children to really read and take in a text.
