For the autumn term 2020 at least, all courses will be delivered online.
How it will work
Booking – this is done by emailing me philipgwebb@me.com with the following information:
School
Postal Address of school – so that the free book (where appropriate) can be sent to the delegate before the meeting subject to enough notice being given
Name of Delegate(s)
Delegate(s) email addresses for the invitation to join the Zoom meeting
Email address for invoice
Before the meeting
An email will be sent to the delegate containing a link to enable them to join the meeting. The email will also contain a link to the course webpage and an exclusive password to enable them to access the presentation and resources. The presentation will be available for download at least 24 hours before the course.
There will be the option of a ‘dress rehearsal’ before the day of the meeting so that delegates can check their settings etc. The two short videos below are well worth watching for colleagues new to Zoom.
The free books will be posted to to delegates and resources need for the day will be available to download.
Checking your audio and video settings before a meeting
Typical full day course timings will be:
9.30 – 10.45
11.15 – 12.30
1.30 – 3.00
Half day courses will run from 9.00 am until 12.00 noon
Online security precautions
File transfer will be disabled to stop the possibility of any malware being shared
Delegates can wait in a ‘waiting room’ so that only I can admit them and ‘join before host’ will also be disabled
The meeting will be set to ‘private’ to avoid unwanted incursions
During the meeting
I will mainly use the ‘share my screen’ facility so that delegates can follow the presentation as if they were in the room. This video clip will give a feeling of what it might look like.
As you may be aware, I like to to have plenty of ‘hands on’ activities to promote discussion and interaction. Where there is more than one delegate from a school, this will continue as normal but where colleagues are working alone they will be able to carry out the activity individually
After the meeting – The course webpage and online resources
As mentioned above, the presentation will be available online to download before the course to enable it to be printed if colleagues wish to use it to take notes.
Other resources needed for course activities will also be available to download along with the usual follow up materials.
