Feedback from the Reading and Writing in Geography course:
Fantastic session, great ideas and lots to take away. The breakout rooms are great! A good way to share good practice! thank you 🙂
That was a great course. Very entertaining, along with lots of useful resources that can be shared throughout school.
Really enjoyed the training – lots of great ideas to take back to school and share with staff. Thought it worked really well on Zoom
This is an online course for RE subject leaders in primary schools delivered via Zoom. The presentation will be available to download at least 48 hours before the day if anyone would like to print this to take notes. There will also be pre-course resources that will be needed to fully participate in sessions.
This half day course is based on the premise of putting RE first whilst providing practical and easy to implement ideas for continuity and progression through the school.

We will look at how to read and research, and organise and write texts to demonstrate understanding and reflection in RE. These will cover appropriate genres of storytelling, non-fiction and poetry when talking and writing about customs, symbols, artefacts, people and festivals and celebrations. Similar ideas were covered on the sister courses Reading and Writing in Geography, History and Science: practical ideas for subject leaders in primary schools. This means that children will be able to become familiar with the techniques and concentrate upon applying their knowledge, understanding and being able to reflect.
The session will look ahead to the forthcoming EYFS framework and the focus upon people, culture and communities.
Many of the comprehension and drama ideas might already be familiar to your colleagues and children if they follow a version of my five phase sequence.
