Literacy Leaders’ Network 2025/26 – The Writing Framework Specials

We meet once per term online via Zoom and each meeting has the following structure:

  • Main presentation and discussions – usually about two hours
  • 30 minute one to one meetings with individual schools
  • Time for colleagues to begin to consider the implications of the content and to begin to put things into practice

As well as the actual meeting days, I can provide free support throughout the year via email or Zoom meetings.

Before each meeting, I will send an activity pack for the practical elements of the session and following the meeting delegates will receive the full presentation to use in their schools. Meetings are also recorded and sent to anyone who would like a copy.

The cost is £170 per school, per meeting or the very popular season-ticket offer of £150 per meeting if all three meetings are booked. Last year all delegates booked the season ticket offer.

The department recommends that the SENCO becomes a part of the team of expert teachers. The course fee for the network meetings is per school so that any number of colleagues may attend subject to the issue of cover obviously!

Thanks again for a great session. Following the meeting, we decided to implement a whole school writing task in the forthcoming transition and our early morning Ofsted chat was great. Using the documents you found for us, we were able to immediately edit our “Ofsted script” and we had time to discuss strategy moving forward.

Draft Agenda for the meeting on 5 November 2025

The New Writing framework from the DfE is the main agenda item and will feature in all three meetings this year. As well as a looking at the content, we will consider routines, policies and principles and the implications for leadership. The table below covers many of the discussion points for leaders.

I will also deliver an edited version of my new CPD Now that’s what I call high quality sentence instruction.

In view of the importance of The Writing Framework, my presentation in November will take up the whole of the morning session with the one to ones in the afternoon or on other days if necessary.

Section 7 of The Writing Framework focuses upon leadership and management of writing and refers to:

  • Creating a writing culture
  • Building a team of expert teachers
  • Developing an effcetive writing curriculum

Over the year, we will look at these points in depth and enable the formulation of plans using EEF guidelines for implementation.
