Literacy Leaders’ Network Meetings – 2026/27

4 November 2026

24 March 2027

There will be two Literacy Leaders’ Network meetings in the school year 2026/27. The first one will be on the 4th of November 2026 and the second one on the 24th of March 2027.

Last year we focused upon the implications of the Writing Framework. There were three sessions:
1) An introduction to the Writing Framework – Now that’s what I call high quality sentence instruction
2) Now 2 – More on transcription and text structure and organisation – and…

3) Pupils who need the most support

This year, we will build upon these sessions. The November meeting will focus upon writing across the curriculum.

Section 6 of the Writing Framework states:

Teaching writing should be planned not only in the context of the English lesson, but also across the wider curriculum…

Writing across the wider curriculum offers pupils useful opportunities for practice. These lessons are not focused directly on teaching writing, but they can provide opportunities for pupils to apply their writing knowledge and skills more independently…

The writing routines and models described in this framework should be embedded across subject teaching, not limited to English lessons…

However, writing tasks in other subjects should not detract from the intended focus of the learning in that subject.’

A few years ago, I delivered reading and writing CPD to subject leaders of the following areas:

  • Geography
  • History
  • RE
  • Music
  • Art and Design
  • Science

We will revisit and examine ideas that can be easily and effectively used in some or all of the above subjects.

As the price is per school, other subject leaders will be welcome to join us with no extra charge.

These sessions are delivered online via Zoom and as well as the general input, they also provide scope for one to one meetings with leaders to discuss their own issues.

The cost is £170 per meeting or a special season ticket offer of £150 per meeting if for both sessions are booked.

The price is per School, so more than one colleague can attend for the same price.
