This course forms the final part of the ‘New (or not) to…’ series of courses based upon the use of quality texts.
This is an online course delivered via Zoom. The two free books will be be delivered to delegates before the course. The presentation will be available to download at least 48 hours before each day if anyone would like to print this to take notes. There will also be downloadable resources that will be needed to fully participate in sessions.

Outcomes: Participants will be introduced to a range of ideas using quality texts to stimulate in-depth engagement with fiction, non-fiction and poetry. We will look at ideas for writing in provision, using children’s interests to develop their vocabulary, spoken language, reading and writing. There will also be an exploration of how links can be made with the wider curriculum including Physical Development and Understanding the World.
There will be a free copy of two quality fiction texts – There is no Dragon in this Story and The Suitcase for all attendees as well as access to free online resources including teaching sequences for the featured texts.
Target audience: Reception teachers who are new to the year group, or experienced teachers who are looking for new ideas and a structured approach to teaching using high quality texts.
