This a new course and forms the final part of the ‘New (or not) to…’ series of courses based upon the use of quality texts.
Outcomes: Participants will be introduced to a range of ideas using quality texts to stimulate in-depth engagement with fiction, non-fiction and poetry. We will look at ideas for writing in provision, using children’s interests to develop their vocabulary, spoken language, reading and writing. There will also be an exploration of how links can be made with the wider curriculum including Physical Development and Understanding the World.
There will be a free copy of a quality fiction text – There is no Dragon in this Story for all attendees to take away with them as well as access to free online resources including teaching sequences for the featured texts.
Target audience: Reception teachers who are new to the year group, or experienced teachers who are looking for new ideas and a structured approach to teaching using high quality texts.
