The Next 20%: High quality Adaptive Teaching – a two day course

Feedback from the pilot version in 2024

Simple structure that seems easy to follow. Like the before, during and after idea – breaks it down.’

‘Love the writing and reading ladders idea – a quick reminder of activities that could be used as it’s easy to forget ideas if you are not using them all the
time.’

‘I like the before, during and after structure. It’s good to have a structure for planning.’

We think the before. during and after ideas are great. Ensuring the balance is there between teacher led activities and children using activities and the teacher facilitating learning.’

Day 1 – An emphasis upon reading mainly in a guided reading context
Day 2 – An emphasis upon writing with a reading to writing approach for English units

Day 1 – 16 January 2025 – 9.30 am –  3.00 pm
Day 2 – 30 January 2025 – 9.30 am –  3.00 pm

This is an online course delivered via Zoom. An activity pack will be sent to delegates a few days before the course to facilitate practical activities. The presentation will be available to download immediately after the session.

Target audience: Teachers who would like to identify the most appropriate modelling and scaffolding techniques to meet the needs of the target group of pupils – and others!

Day 1 Outcomes: Participants will be introduced to a range of ideas for reading and the emphasis will be on fluency for comprehension and practical comprehension ideas.

Day 2 Outcomes: For writing, the emphasis will mainly be on composition but with some input on transcription. In this CPD there will be a lighter touch on input for transcription as most schools have their own handwriting and phonics and spelling schemes in place.

The final content for these dates is still under construction and will be finalised after further pilots in summer 2024. In the meantime you will find more information about the whole project here.
